Chapter 19 \u201cRun Saturn Run part 2\u201d<\/span><\/p>

“Jump Complete.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

\u201cLaunch the CAP,” <\/b>Ordered commander Ramirez<\/span><\/p>

\u201c<\/span>DRADIS, maximum range!\u201d<\/b><\/p>

The radio crackled with the male voice of one of their most experienced viper pilots. <\/span>“Lots of crap out here.Gonna be hurting to fix any targets.This is plumber, Combat air patrol has been established.\u201d<\/b>

<\/span><\/p>

The distinctive sets of high-pitched peeps came from the DRADIS Console. Other series of noises indicated FTL jumps.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cContact! Three gunships, two smaller targets, are launching raiders. Three groups of 25-30 inbound missiles. Constant Bearing Decreasing Range!<\/b>\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Major Langer made eye contact with the commander, who he had known for almost two decades, and knew there was no chance of a tactical withdrawal. Words were not necessary between the two.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

“Launch the air wing. Gun Crews spin up on manual mode. Comms make sure every plane knows our engagement zone. Begin crash turns, tactical. At the end of turn 3 Flak is cleared for automatic.\u201d<\/b><\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

\u201cThis is Angel. Green squadron.\u00a0 Enemy fighters are not challenging us. We’re going to engage the inbound missiles.\u201d<\/b><\/p>



<\/p>

\u201cOrange squadron. Plumber. Split into two tactical groups! Group A engage the inbound missiles. Group B stand back and take out the stragglers.\u201d<\/b><\/p>

“Alert. 25 missiles inbound have evaded our screen and are headed for the port pod.\u201d<\/b><\/p>

\u201cDamage control teams stand by!\u201d<\/b><\/p>

Missile barrage slams into the port pod which is briefly engulfed in flames.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cThis is DC crew 4. Toasters scraped off some paint.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

\u201cAll DC crews, this is the chief. Make frakking sure that every damage control team member has proper breathing gear. Double check the pilots who are grounded from their precious planes!\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

“Port flight pod. Report airtight status. All crew in the port and starboard flight pods mandatory equipment check on breathing gear.\u201d<\/b><\/p>

\u201cRaiders lining up for another shot at the port pod. DRADIS has more inbound jumps detected. Reinforcements are arriving.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

James Parker, a senior NCO positioned himself between the commander and the XO so he could see the tactical layout of the enemy fleet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

\u201cSir, they are not playing aggressive tactics. They are hanging back, trying to get lucky with a salvo of heavy missiles. I would reckon we surprised them with this jump. Reinforcements will jump in, but they are trying to keep their powder dry, trying to stay alive.\u201d<\/b><\/p>

\u201cAnother Salvo inbound. Port pod rig for impact!\u201d<\/b><\/p>

\u201cPort pod is taking significant damage!\u201d<\/b><\/p>

\u201cThus begins what could be a long war of attrition.\u201d<\/b><\/p>

“And I forgot to pack my formal jacket with tails and that cute tie. Do you think my commanding officer will take points off on my annual review?<\/b><\/p>

\u201cFiring solution,15 second, forward battlestar artillery.\u201d<\/b><\/p>

\u201cForward batteries switch to salvo mode!\u201d<\/b><\/p>

\u201cLocal signal, civilian band commander.\u201d<\/b> Major Langer pointed at an out of place monitor with a bouncing pineapple on it. <\/span>\u201cMy ex used a mobile carrier with that logo!\u201d<\/b><\/p>

\u201cPrivate go to my quarters, get my mobile phone. Next to it is a data stick.That logo is a signal from Captain Miller.\u201d<\/b><\/p>

Langer looked up from the tactical map. <\/span>\u201cHead Geek!\u201d<\/b><\/p>

\u201cNo follow up signal yet, the first signal came from a raptor based on the Mercury.\u201d<\/b><\/p>
