He had fought under\nthe command of  Eva Lawson&#8217;s grandmother, also Eva Lawson. Also an\nAdmiral by the end of the war. She had used several flagships, the\nmost famous of which was named Mercury, nicknamed \u201cMighty Mercury\u201d\na Jupiter Mark ii.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">The Solaria had been badly damaged \nseveral times during this war. Right now it was next in line to\nreceive the Cylon FTL upgrade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Herman Wilson was a malcontent, with a\nrecord of failure. He had washed out of Viper pilots school, and\nbarely passed his check ride for the raptor. He had been cut during a\ndownsizing 2 years before the fall only to be drafted and shunned to\nthe Solaria, which required 24 by 7 maintenance just to keep it from\nfalling apart.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">He and a few buddies were in the ready\nroom with an open bottle of whiskey and a serious case of attitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cI can&#8217;t believe Lawson just sits\nthere while the politicians cut the budget,\u201d Wilson, a Major and\nnearly fifty years old. \u201cI just missed being cut again.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Barry Lockheart, also a three time\nloser in the Colonial fleet, was overweight, and bald. His uniform\nwas shabby, showing sings of wear on the elbows. \u201cThen who would\nthey get to command this barge?\u201d He asked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThey should turn this into a\nwhorehouse and station them here to take care of the real men of the\nColonial fleet,\u201d Jim Ward, A Captain and the XO of the Solaria\nlaughed. \u201cThe stories I hear are so wild, you&#8217;d think they were\nfiction. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Ward had managed not to wash out of\nColonial Fleet but this was only due to political connections. He had\nbeen working in the mess hall on the Valkyrie class battlestar, the\nBlackbird which had survived the assault due to a fire in the data\ncenter that had taken its entire network offline the day before the\nfall. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">He was a braggart and boasted often. He\nhad never laid eyes on Lawson from afar, much less had personal\ncontact with him. It was well known her exploits in the fleet favored\npilots. \u201cIt was about three years before the war. We were on\nliberty at Tauron and she came on to me like a Viper pilot on a\ntarget drone. She was a wild one,\u201d he laughed. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cI bet she knew tricks that your\nmother didn&#8217;t know,\u201d Lockheart took  a drink on his Whiskey.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cHis mother knew tricks that Lawson\ndidn&#8217;t know,\u201d Ward let out a disgusting belly laugh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cI&#8217;m serious though,\u201d Wilson tried\nto stop laughing. A couple of off duty Marines were taking in the\nscene, but were not drinking or participating in the discussion. \u201cShe\nis not fit for command. Toasters captured her and probably put that\nCylon software in her head.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cYou guy&#8217;s are full of it. You don&#8217;t\nhave the guts to do anything about this,\u201d Ward remarked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThere is no chain of command,\u201d\nWilson said, \u201cno honor. They had out ranks like candy. But I&#8217;m\nserious, we have to find a way to put men of action in command of\nthis fleet.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cEveryone knows Lawson whored her way\nto the rank of Major,\u201d Ward laughed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cI heard she was a frakking great\npilot and an excellent CAG, who earned her rank,\u201d A Marine remarked\nfinally joining the conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThat&#8217;s what she said to me after I\nfrakked her,\u201d a previously quiet officer spoke up. \u201cHe stepped\nforward standing up straighter as he spoke. \u201cWhat you are talking\nabout is a mutiny. That carries the death sentence in a time of war.\nNow if you fellows are serious, I&#8217;ve got the connections that can\npull it off. So are you a frakking bunch of losers, or do you want to\nkeep Admiral slut from giving away the entire second war?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">There was silence for a few seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cI knew it,\u201d he snarled. \u201cA bunch\nof frakking losers. Enjoy the unemployment line when they lay you\nlazy frakkers off.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cI got the guts to take action,\u201d\nWilson said while puffing out his chest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cI am with you,\u201d Lockheart said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cSo say we all,\u201d a single forceful\nvoice in the back of the room shouted.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cSo say we all!\u201d The combined\nvoices sounded like thunder. Energy swept through the crowded map\nroom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Task force Saturn<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cCommander,\u201d Wilma Jennings, an\nenlisted technician reported. \u201cAll ships show ready to jump.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cCombat jump is ordered,\u201d she said\nfirmly. It was at these moments she least believed she commanded not\nonly a battlestar but a task force. It sank in as the jump key was\ninserted, the nav computers and coordinates were confirmed and the\nsinking feeling in the pit of her stomach she always felt during the\nFTL jump.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Chapter 67 clip2    HD 1080p\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/he49QCK5AQA?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Rock Star and Streak got the assignment\nto relay the orders to the task force led by the Saturn and Commander\nRamirez. They arrived just after the jump in, which had been delayed\na few minutes by some technical issues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThis is raptor two niner one niner,\nwe  have a change in orders for the Saturn ask force.  Abort abort\nabort. RTB.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cWhat the frak? Why? Ramirez asked on\nthe wireless. This is Saturn actual.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThis package is a distraction to\ntake us away from the home systems. These orders are authenticated.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Chapter 67 clip 3   HD 1080p\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/AeKpUwKnrwI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cLaunch all vipers,\u201d Ramirez\nordered. \u201cExecute defensive plan delta.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Ramirez paced around the CIC, which did\nnot really have room for pacing on the Mercury class. \u201cOkay \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cWe are going to try and contain this\nsituation and get out of this with minimal damage.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cSalvage team has jumped away,\u201d\ntactical reported. \u201cThe base stars are trying to bracket us.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cAll ships hard right,\u201d Ramirez\nordered. \u201cConcentrate our fire on the nearest base star.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Chapter 67 clip 4   HD 1080p\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Sug-DMOBKXI?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThe base stars have jumped further\naway with tactical jumps,\u201d DRADIS reported.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Chapter 67 clip 5   HD 1080p\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/E5kboB-_Nuo?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThe raiders are alternately running\nin a different direction, trying to disrupt our formation,\u201d\nSaturn&#8217;s CAG announced on the wireless. \n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cKeep it steady,\u201d Ramirez ordered\nin a low voice, barely audible from the noise of the DRADIS console.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Ramirez had come to ely heavily on her\nDRADIS operator. Lieutenant Junior Grade Sam \u201cRadar\u201d Kensignton\nwas one of the few bridge officers with a call sign. He had developed\na protocol and then a computer program that combined DRASDIS and \nother signals intelligence to predict Cylon tactics such as tactical\njumps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">He had an instinct for Cylon tactics\nand could predict their next move, sometimes just based on squadron\ndeployments. He was twenty years of age, born on Gemenon, with wild\nbrown hair that nobody made him cut out of superstition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Ramirez settled in behind him and\ngently rested a hand on this thin shoulders. \u201cTalk to me Radar,\u201d\nshe said softly. What do you hear.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cNothing but the DRADIS Sir,\u201d he\nanswered. \u201cTheir tactics do not make sense. They had an opportunity\ndue to our deployment to possibly hit our fire control but they did\nnot take it. Normally they raise their base stars and move towards us\nlooking for that fire control shot. Today I don&#8217;t know they are\ndrifting away trying to draw us in.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThey are not going for a win here?&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cNo Sir, he answered. They just want\nus to stay here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">Something caught the commanders eye on\na screen installed especially for Radar that flashed through various\nsensor images including the feed from telescopes which he had used to\npick up battle recon. \u201cCan you put telescope 4a on a bigger monitor\nand zoom in?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">A few seconds later he had an image of\nthe refinery they were supposed to capture in a grainy zoom image.\nRigged on crucial areas were explosives with communications gear\nconnected. \u201cThey knew we were coming and they knew the mission\nobjective Sir. They want to keep us here.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cBut why?\u201d Commander Ramirez was\nstumped. \u201cOkay everybody for 20 seconds let the battle take care of\nitself. I need your brains. They Cylons want to keep us here as long\nas possible. They have guessed our mission or knew our mission and\nthe refinery is rigged for remote detonation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cAre you sure?\u201d Jim Preston her 34\nyear old XO asked. \u201cTheir tactics have been bad before.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cAssume I am. This refinery is much\nmore valuable to us than them. They probably have fifty more. Why do\nthey want us here?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cToasters don&#8217;t need a reason,\u201d\nquipped the fire control officer. These sessions, which Ramirez had\nadapted from her IT days were anything goes. The only stupid\nstatement or question was the one not made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThey have bigger fish to fry Sir,\u201d\nCommunications a woman who looked like a teenage video game junkie\nsaid. \u201cThey are wanting us here to let them hit something else.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cLawson&#8217;s task force?\u201d engineering\nproposed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cNo,\u201d Ramirez directed the\nconversation. \u201cAdmiral Lawson sent orders by raptor for us to\nextricate ourselves from here. Rock Star and Streak made that pretty\nclear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size\">\u201cThey are after the shipyard or the\nnew Colonies Sir.
